Psalm 61:1
early will i seek you
There is nothing like being woken up by The Holy Spirit in the early hours of the morning to take that time to spend time with our amazing Precious Abba Father; to have that time when all is still and quiet to rest in His presence – such both an honour and a privilege to have that time right there when the rest of the house is quiet whether you live with a family or other folk or even alone!
For me personally as I have shared a few times before, this right there is my favourite time of the day. Even moreso now with Spring upon us where around 03:30 or so, the birds start their early morning chorus which just blessed my heart every time I hear there beautiful songs. I know for some folk their singing happily in the early hours really does get on their nerves because of being rudely woken from their sleep perhaps but no – I absolutely love their chirping and singing away happily which is yet another beautiful reminder of our Amazing Creator God!
Starting off more often than note when I awake with the words “Good Morning Father” and then again more often than not going into a time of thanking Him for blessing me with another amazing day before going into a time of Praising Him for who He is – so precious; so awesome; an absolute honour to be able to glorify The Father especially as soon as He opens our eyes to another new day!
For those of us who struggle with sleep in various ways:

With my own sleep pattern literally all over the place from day to day, being woken up from anywhere after midnight to four O’clock most mornings I relish this time – why one may ask? Because this is the time this English girl here absolutely relishes in having this space of both peace and quiet to spend with God. So, this girl here does normally have a “kind of” format that I follow in how this precious time is used which also does include coffee! Of course one has to have a cuppa to go alongside her time with Abba Father this goes without saying does it not!
So the format that I use with my prayer time is to start off by praising God and It is just so beautiful being able to praise his name, being able to praise and give thanks for who he is. Then I go into a time of making sure that my own heart is right with the Lord. And anything that his Holy Spirit shows me that I need to repent of, then I do that. and making sure that my heart is definitely right with him. It’s making sure that if there is anything that isn’t right, which is knowing that his Holy Spirit will reveal whatever it is to my heart. And it’s about spending time in repentance and any unforgiveness that I need to do. that again the Holy Spirit might remind me of it’s doing that as well. I need to state here that this does not mean that if we know during the day that we have done anything wrong and again the holy spirit will make it crystal clear and that time of repentance should take place there and then again along with any unforgiveness or anything that is not right so for the sake of time moving on I then go into a time of prayer for family or anyone else and with all the craziness going on right now throughout the world and including the situation with Israel and Iran at this moment, which is affecting every single nation.
I then go into a time of gratitude, basically thanking God for whatever He lays on my heart through His Holy Spirit. So yeah, I do kind of have a set routine with my prayer time. Does it always go to plan? No, it doesn’t. However, even if things don’t go to plan, you know, the Lord knows our heart and there are times that it doesn’t matter if we don’t do things in sync – it’s not about being a machine and just doing everything repetitively because if we’re getting into that mode, that doesn’t always glorify Abba Father. It does need to be straight from the heart without going through the motions. just for the sake of it and I do hope this is making sense!
So, after my prayer time, I get into God’s word and this is just my reading for the day. Again, as I mentioned, This happens in this order the majority of the time, but there are also times that when I wake up, I will go straight into God’s word after saying good morning to Abba Father. There are also times when I’m super, super tired, that I will just spend a little time in prayer, or I will go into God’s word, then I will go back to sleep. Is that wrong? Does that actually matter? No, it doesn’t. Again, everything we do unto our Father is a matter of the heart – this goes without saying! I would also love to spend time in actual worship and praise through praise and worship music. But obviously, at that time in the morning, I don’t think anyone would appreciate it with me singing, even if it’s softly. and because of my living situation, this is totally not very wise!
I keep stressing the importance of spending that time as soon as you wake up with God. It is so, so precious. Not only is it such a precious time, But upon waking, to actually spend time with God is a priority and it does need to be a priority. He should be the first person on our hearts as soon as we open our eyes. I hear several folks saying that they don’t have time when they wake up. They need to get busy with the day in whatever they are doing. And I hear others say that they can’t spend that time in the morning because of whatever reason. So they spend time later in the day or in the evenings. Personally, I do believe there is a problem here right off the bat where if you can’t dedicate that time upon waking to spend with the Lord. Friends, it is not about being legalistic here at all whatsoever so please know my heart ok! If you do have a problem, then may I suggest that you set your alarm clock to wake up an hour earlier than you normally would, just to be able to spend that time with God. This is so, so important and I can’t stress this point enough!
Again, I’ve stated what I’m about to share several times too, that for me personally, that I find that when I start my day off with the Lord in the early hours of the morning, the rest of my day flows beautifully. if I don’t spend that time the opposite happens where I end up getting flustered and irritable at times I hate to say but yes it does happen but this is the reality of life and our flesh, which does sadly get in the way! However, spending that time in the early hours, I love. I absolutely love and relish this time.
Let’s Do a Heart Check!

So, I’m going to leave you with some thought provoking questions – are you ready? Let’s go!
- Do you spend time as a believer and follower of Jesus Christ with God when you wake up? If not, why not?
- What gets in the way of spending that time with him?
- Where does your priority lie especially upon waking up?
- Do you get so busy with a life circumstances that you forget to spend that time with god or you put other things before him?
- Where does your priority lie this is also a question for me to ask myself too so I am by no means exempt
There are times that as I’ve stated when I wake up and if it’s later than anticipated and I know that I’ve got to do one or two things and I put those things before the Lord. There is an issue there straight off the bat because our waking moments should be on Abba Father. So may this post both bless you and encourage you and get us all to think about having that time and prioritising that time in the early mornings to spend with our Creator and our Saviour.

Rising early and seeking the Lord is an essential part of our day. Its nice to see that others have a spiritual routine for that time of the day. Thank you Sister for sharing, and may your blog be an inspiration to those who need to consider seeking the Lord to share that important part of the day.
