Bless The Lord O My Soul | Psalm 103

This above Psalm was part of my Bible reading two days ago. The words in this particular Psalm were very much what I needed to hear and also to speak out loud at that time. The words were also a reminder to me that we are called to both Bless & Praise God in all circumstances; in all situations no matter what our feelings tell us – as feelings should not even come into the equation whatsoever!
Feelings betray us and feelings no matter how strong they are do not give us the clarity needed that comes from Jesus and Him alone. Feelings can give us a false sense of security if you will and/or a false sense of hope – in other words we are not to rely on our feelings at all!
We are called to honour God with our worship which goes from talking to Him to getting into His Word to singing Praises unto His Holy Name. In actual fact, anything we do unto Jesus Christ Our Lord and Saviour is Praise. We are also called to honour Him with our thoughts, our speech and our actions. Sadly, because we are human beings and of the flesh this is at times easier said than done. This is also another reminder that every day we sin but those of us who know Jesus intimately also know that we are sinners saved by His Amazing Grace.
God deserves both our worship and our praise. He is the one who is the Creator of heaven and of earth and of all mankind. He gave us life in the very first instance and that statement right there should give us cause to praise Him at all times. He alone gave us the very breath that we breathe – again, yet another awesome and beautiful reminder of God’s incredible gift of life to all of us and that in it’s self is such a beautiful & precious gift.

With any situation that happens in our lives whether good or bad – we are called to Praise and give glory unto God. Yes, there are circumstances and situations in life that happen that is inevitable and at times not pleasant, however, God allows situations such as grief; loss; illness; death and so the list continues to happen for a reason. We may not always know His reasoning behind why we are allowed to suffer. But no matter – what God does allow events to take place in our own lives to do one of the following:
- To discipline us as a loving father does to His children
- To give us cause to stop and think about our actions to reflect on His overall grace & mercy towards us
- To draw us closer to Him
- To refine us
This is where again that word “choice” comes into play. Yes, I know I use this word a lot for those who are regular readers of this website. The point still stands that If we choose to abandon God and/or to walk away from Him – that is our choice!
But and I mean BUT this is not His choice for our lives.
This is not what God desires and also know this dear reader, of how much He grieves over those who decide by choice to turn their backs on Him – all because of certain situations/events that have happened in our lives and sometimes in the lives of others that were not planned.
We have made the choice not God to be angry and bitter towards Him.
We are the ones who have decided to abandon Him hence turning our backs on Him.

Also, those who have grown up more often than not in homes where our parents, grand-parents or other care givers have no interest in God – but in this day and age, we have no excuse to not hear and learn about God. We have His Written Infallible Word. Again though, even in Countries where His Written Word may not be accessible yet, God is still known to Man whether this be through others or through dreams and visions. This again does not give anyone the excuse to turn their backs on God – there is no excuse, absolutely none
So, what are we going to do when we receive seriously bad news including health related or the death of a loved one or it could be anything that could harden our hearts towards God and it could be anything – not just the above that I have shared. Are we going to continue by choice to still trust in God completely no matter what has happened or are we going to become so disheartened and/or disillusioned with God to the point where we throw our hands up in the air in a hissy fit and decide to turn our backs on Him – which I would strongly advise us not to do that at all and as always I am being deadly serious. There is a cryptic meaning to this last statement by the way!!!!
Well, this did start off by being a short devotional, but this has turned into something more and a little longer in length than I intended. Also, as always, I start writing not knowing in which direction His Holy Spirit is going to lead and this was what He has laid on my heart from the above Psalm. So may this post speak to your heart and be of encouragement to you. Finally, we all need to be careful with our choices in life because if not then the choices you and I make can be deadly!!!!!!!!!
I know I did say finally, however I do bring up the word choice(s) a lot of late and there is good reason behind why I do this – because our lives are all about choice hence this is why I say and I am seriously ending this blog post on this note – we all need to be careful with all of our choices in life because they could lead to everlasting eternal life in heaven or everlasting eternal life in hell. Let us be as wise as serpents and as harmless as doves in all circumstances & in all situations throughout our entire lives

Now I am really done with this post
(Really, you mean “you are really done” I hear you say!!!!)
