It is beginning to look like Christmas – everywhere you go

The wonder and joy of the Christmas is now in full swing. No matter whether you celebrate this wonderful festive season or not – everywhere you go with the amazing Christmas lights and decorations up around home or in villages, towns or cities along with the amazing beautifully decorated Christmas trees – I don’t know about you but this sure does lift my spirits no end. There is an atmosphere of expectancy; folk seem to be a little more ameniable towards one another (not always) but for the most part this is true.
And especially if you are in a Country where it is snowing and with the snow falling against a backdrop of beautifully decorated gardens and homes on the outside as well as inside where you can see quite often gorgeous decorated Christmas trees in people’s windows. There is joy to be had and there is laughter and glee along with families and/or friends throwing snowballs at one another as they are bundled up in their fur coats or other winter coats along with hats, scarves and mittens.
There are families and/or friends out on the ice rinks that have been put up especially for this Christmas season which you can see in many towns and cities and no doubt this is the same in the Countryside too. Folk clasping mugs of hot cocao with hands toasty and warm with the mittens keeping their hands warm from the cold. Some may be out on their sledges if there is an abundance of snow. BUT no matter where you are – there is this air of expectancy; this air of anticipation that something good is on the horizon; that something is about to happen as children start to become excited the nearer we get to Christmas Day. There is joy in abundance for most – sadly not all but for most folk
I mentioned Christmas trees at the beginning of this post and I want to bring this into this dialogue here. Not everyone has the desire to put up a Christmas tree and some detest them and there are those who perhaps see the Christmas tree as pagan worship and/or idolatry. Whilst on the other hand there are many who delight in going out to specialist Christmas tree farms to choose a tree as a family. If there are young children involved, you often see and/or hear about families playing tag or hide and seek in amongst the rows upon rows of trees having a blast and simply having fun.
Oh the decisions upon choosing the right tree where it has to be of a certain height to make sure it fits just right inside your home. There is the decision of wanting it to be thin or bushy and so the list goes on as many folk need to make the right choice for them. Then they have to get it cut where the tree goes through this machine to have netting around it to secure it nice and tight and then to get the tree on the roof of their car to get it home without the worry of the tree falling into the road causing chaos with perphaps cars needing to dodge the fallen tree so there are no accidents – boy so many decisions and so much choice for the humble pine tree
Now I am getting to a point here honest I am – so the tree once you get it home, families gather together as they have sorted through the Christmas lights to make sure they are all working along with sorting through the array of Christmas decorations which quite often have been brought down from the loft including baubles and figurines etc and perhaps trying to find the star or angel that sits on the top of the tree – and here is where I am getting to my point. Phew I hear you say!
Take a look at the first picture below:

The star reminds us first of all of the birth of Jesus Christ who is the light of the world and the second point about the star reminds us of the star of David (though this is not the actual star of David obviously) but even so Jesus is Our light in this world so dark.

Most Christmas trees are decorated with lights – yet another reminder that Jesus is the light of the world – He is our light in the darkness as I said in the paragraph before. We are also reminded that Jesus who is our light came into this world to deliver us from sin and again we are reminded that He truly is Our Light in this darkness.

Because of Jesus birth – we have been given the greatest gift of mankind which is Jesus Christ Himself. He is our Redeemer and his Presents (deliberately misspelt!) is the greatest gift given to mankind. Because of Jesus Christ we have been given the gift of life and we have also been given the gift of New Birth. New Birth meaning that we can be Born Again into a brand new relationship with Jesus where once we hand our lives over to Him and truly repent of our sins – we have the promise of life eternal and life in abundance to reign with Him forever.

Finally, the Christmas Tree itself – whilst there is no spiritual significance to this humble pine tree – it is up to each individual and/or family to decide between them and Abba Father if they decide to put up a Christmas tree. Now the Christmas tree, I am sure when we go out to a specialist Christmas Tree farm or wherever we go to get our trees, that we don’t see this humble pine tree which has been cut specifically BUT how often do we see trees that have been crafted into idols – I for one have never seen a tree crafted and moulded into an idol. Secondly, I have never seen or known anyone take a crafted tree home to then bow down and worship this tree – heaven forbid this does not happen but I have no doubt that in some places in this crazy upside down world, that this possibly does happen, sad to say!!
In whether we choose to celebrate Christmas or not – this is where caution comes into play that in whatever decisions we make when it comes to Christmas including to have or not to put up a Christmas tree along with all the decorations; whether we choose to or not to choose about incorporating other elements of Christmas from giving gifts to even Santa – let us make all of our decisions by first of all going to Abba Father first and foremost and secondly to not impose our ideologies especially if they are (a) not even mentioned in God’s Written Word or (b) we are sadly listening to “mens” ideologies that we do not impose our opinions and ideologies onto others – this is where the whole “should we or should we not celebrate Christmas” onto others without thoroughly correctly interpreting Bible Scripture.
Finally do we remember that the whole point of Christmas is Jesus Christ and our whole focus should be on Him – please I urge both you and me to not fall into the dangerous trap of going by what our family; our friends or others opinions are when it comes to Christmas – I am just sticking to Christmas here dear readers for this blog post.
Christmas is a time of joy and celebration as we do and should celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ who is as I have shared – Our light in a world now so very dark

Amen Sister Page, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus christ is certainly the reason for season and although there are some who would be stuck in their legalistic ways, it shouldn’t prevent the rest of us from celebrating the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
May God Bless you through this Christmas season Sister.
