Birthdays

This day comes but once a year

And along with it comes good cheer

They start from the moment you are born

When you may look bereft and a little forlorn

So tiny are you in your mothers arms

That with your birth comes many qualms

I am sure from the time you can remember

Whether this be in January or the end of December

You have had many parties this is for sure

As the years go by, you may decide that you want more

From sleep overs to barbeques or parties indoors

Perhaps if you are married you would invite your in-laws

As time moves on by and you become so much wiser

You may decide that you want to go for an event organiser

To plan your birthday in whatever way you choose

For at the end of the day what have you got to lose

They will come up with many ideas for your special day

But at the end of it all, you are the one to have the last say

Birthdays are special and should be deemed as such

Perhaps you will get gifts or for some not very much

But even a card from family and friends goes along way

Whatever the day brings you should celebrate way hey

perhaps a nice meal would be one way to go out on a limb

maybe with a glass of wine too but dont fill it right up to the rim

As the years pass you by and you reach that one year older

Dont forget the one who carried you as she cried on your shoulder

She bore the pain of giving birth to you all those months

Of which in the end she had indeed a very big bump

Whether it was in hospital or a home birth that was foretold

She waited and waited until your form would unfold

But your story didnt start there it began before you were formed

Each birth is an experience and not one of the norm

For God knew you right from the very beginning

And from the heavens God could be heard very loudly singing

For a joy that you were to enter this world and start afresh

For what He has in store for you it is nothing but purely the best

So, as you remember your birthday each year that it comes by

You may want to reflect on each year or you may want to sigh

For birthdays are memories of all that has happened

So be joyous and remember all that is good and do not be dampened

For your life is a miracle and each birthday becomes more special

You may not think this way but allow your thoughts to become settled
